Text: Colossians 4:2-3
Verse 3 of our text reads “Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds”
There are three very important things to learn from this verse of scripture:
Utterance backed by the Spirit of God neutralises and paralyses the works of the devil; for this reason it is crucial that Christians must:
In essence, every believer is accountable for what he/she utters! It is therefore wise to take responsibility for the words we speak.
In Matthew 15:18-19, our Lord Jesus said “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness and blasphemies”
David understood this principle and he prayed in Psalms 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord my strength and my redeemer.”
It is also important to note what Jesus told Peter in Matthew 16:19 “…I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Likewise, we can unlock the doors of heaven over our lives by uttering the word of God as directed by the Holy Spirit; equally we must refuse to speak the words of the devil!
