Pst Glen The Word & Breath of God – Part 3

Text: Ezekiel 37:1-5

Genesis 1:2-3 read “The earth was formless and empty…darkness covered the deep waters and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters, then God said “Let there be light” and there was light.”

The Spirit of God coupled with His proceeding word started a chain reaction that created everything in the heavens and on the earth!

Subsequently, the Lord formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathe into his nostrils the breath of life; then he became a living being. Genesis 2:7

In essence, breath is the source of life; without it, death is inevitable!

Likewise, the Spirit of God is the breath of life; without Him the believer dies spiritually and he/she is disconnected from God the Creator of all things, therefore every Christian must seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Let us now take a look at what Jesus says in Matthew 4:4 “…people do not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God”

The prophet’s answer would determine what the Lord was going to do next; Ezekiel knew that God was Almighty and all powerful, he therefore responded “O Sovereign Lord…you alone know the answer to that.” (V3)

Here, our Lord is telling us that the word of God is life and also has creative power! Again, we see this demonstrated in our text.

The moment Ezekiel prophesied at the Lord’s command, his words started a chain reaction that produced breath, consciousness, strength and life to the dry bones; verse 10 testify that “…they stood up on their feet—a great army.” Ezekiel 37:1-10

Believers, the proceeding word from the mouth of an anointed and appointed man is very powerful, there are many examples in scriptures that validate this statement:

  • Moses was instructed by God to stretch the rod (the Word) over the Red Sea, he obeyed and the Lord caused a strong wind (the Holy Spirit) to blow and the waters parted. Exodus 14:15-22
  • Joshua commanded the sun and moon to stand still during a battle and they obeyed Joshua 10:12-13
  • Elisha caused an axe head to float in water! 2 Kings 6:1-6
  • Jesus commanded a fig tree to dry up from the roots and it did! Matthew 21:19

May the word and the breath of God reverse every dead situation in your life, thereby bringing hope and newness of life.

God bless,
Pastor G Ferguson.
