Pst Glen The Time of Release – Part 2

Text: Isaiah 49:8-10

In verse 8 of our text, Isaiah prophesied over the nation of Israel whilst they were in captivity “Thus saith the Lord, in an acceptable time have I heard thee and in a day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages.”

Let us take a close look at four vital statements within this verse of scripture; Almighty God says:

  • “…in an acceptable time have I heard thee…”
  • “…in a day of salvation have I helped thee…”
  • “…I will preserve thee…”
  • “…and give thee for a covenant of the people…”

Have you ever wondered when the acceptable time is? The Lord tells us in
2 Corinthians 6:2 “…behold now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation.”

Therefore you and I can approach His throne boldly to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16)

Psalm 46 verse 1 affirms the second statement “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

This attribute of God was demonstrated in 2 Kings 6:13-22.

Here, the king of Syria sent a large army of soldiers, horses and chariots to capture Elisha and his servant; in spite of the fact that both men were outnumbered, the Prophet “…prayed unto the Lord and said, smite this people I pray thee with blindness and He smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.” (V18)

To every believer, God is saying “…I will preserve thee…”

The same way He preserved Jonah in the belly of the whale, Daniel in the den of lions and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace.

Then we read “…I will give thee for a covenant of the people…” Why?”

Verse 9 of our text tells us “That thou mayest say to the prisoners go forth, to them that are in darkness, shew yourselves…”

Be encouraged; the Lord wants to use your experiences as a touchstone of hope and release for those who are oppressed by the devil!

Have you ever wondered when the acceptable time is? The Lord tells us in
2 Corinthians 6:2 “…behold now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation.”
